editing
Your story is going to come alive in the edit. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your footage cut into a powerful scene
Editing a documentary is exciting, collaborative, time-consuming and really expensive. I have a proven strategy to prepare for an edit. And I have hard-earned experience in giving practical and provocative notes.
A lot of projects come to me at the stage where a director is lost in the details of the story and cutting it won't solve the problem -- re-structuring it is usually the answer. Build a new story outline, cut a few sample scenes and then embark on the long slog of cutting your doc. I'll consult with you along the way and as my clients will tell you, I'll text you out of the blue to make sure you're still working on it!

Some still frames from the cutting room. A joyful church service given by the brother of a murder victim; Sister Helen Prejean walking into death row in Oklahoma and an innocent man released from prison greets his mother.
